Yes, we definitely need to get to this.

I suggest the block can also block them from @name mentioning you as well.

Of course any block would only apply to users, not to staff. 😉

A must have for large communities! A simple block button on the user card and/or profile page should be perfect from UI side.

Regarding the behavior, the blocked user will not be able to mention me or I will just not be notified?

Is this already planned for upcoming versions?

Did this feature ever happen? Im not finding a reference to it anywhere else but it is something I would also like to see (and which my users are requesting.)

Quite a while ago. Go to  
[https://meta.discourse.org/my/preferences](https://meta.discourse.org/my/preferences)

and look for  
“Users Muted” near the bottom
