# Can a suspended user still receive email notifications?

Hello, can a suspended user still receive email notifications to topics they had participated or subscribed to before the suspension? I am not talking about private message, but just new replies to threads the suspended user had participated or started in the past.

If I want a suspended user to be able to continue to receive notifications for threads they started or participated in the past, or if someone call their name with the @ function in a post, should I use the SILENCE or SUSPEND feature?

I don’t see anything affecting their getting email notifications,  
check their preferences and set according to what you need

You want silence. Suspend kicks them out of your site altogether.
