# Can’t create new category

I unfortunately wasn’t able to reproduce this on a fresh discourse install.

So it could be worth checking out if the issue persists in [safe mode](https://meta.discourse.org/t/53504?silent=true) as well, since this may be some interference with a specific theme or theme component present on your site.

you can enable [safe mode](https://meta.discourse.org/t/how-to-use-discourse-safe-mode/53504) by adding `safe-mode` to the end of your site URL and navigating to the same step.  
`http://your-site-name/safe-mode`
