# Kun je e-mail en gebruikersnaam invoer samenvoegen in het registratieformulier?

Thank you! I see it now that I updated. This may not be the place to ask, but is it also possible to hide or disable the signup other fields? I’d like to combine the email & user name fields, so users can enter one or the other in a single field.

I don’t understand why you would want to do that, and how you expect a community site to work without both username and email address. Can you explain your situation in a little more detail?

I’m trying to make the sign up process as simple as possible, both for end users and for PII approval processes. Some people might prefer not to use an email address if they don’t have to. I understand that could complicate signup, password recovery, notifications, etc.
If an email address isn’t necessary, then a single field could be used for email/username, like the sign-in page. But I understand if that’s not possible with Discourse.
If not, it looks like the process could be improved with use\_email\_for\_username\_and\_name\_suggestions, but that doesn’t do what I expected. I thought the user name field would auto-populate from the email address - is that correct?
