# Can you use "www" for the install subdomain?

Can you avoid the subdomain-look, and achieve a top-level domain look, by installing Discourse to a “www” subdomain? I want to use Discourse for a site at the root-level of the domain.

Yes, Discourse can work as
`example.com`
`www.example.com`
However, I don’t recommend this unless you are 100% **ABSOLUTELY** sure you will never, ever, ever run anything else on that domain name.
