# Cannot change discourse files once it is deployed

I am hosting discourse currently on AWS. I was trying to enter ./launcher enter app and made few changes. but once i exit and do ./launcher rebuild app. the changes are not appearing to the website. also when i check those files which i had edited, It makes default again. am i missing something?

All changes to the container will lost. You would need a plugin.

`./launcher restart app` worked

@swarnava without putting your changes into a plugin, they will be lost on every update you apply to the forum.
