# Can't dismiss post

Posts aren’t abandoned from the abandon post prompt.
Clicking cancel in the draft successfully abandons it though.
Reproduced here on meta.

What are the steps to reproduce? Did you click reply, fill in text and then click edit to trigger the abandon post prompt?

Most recently it was with a draft response to an existing thread thread. When I browsed back to the thread in question with my reply minimised a prompt asked if I wanted to abandon my draft. Clicked to abandon the draft, but it persists.
Still occurs now.

I’ve had this happen to me when I am using the shortcut C key to edit a post. @steve\_pd are you editing the post by using a shortcut or by clicking the buttons?

Hmm why is there a prompt to abandon when you navigate back to the topic? There must be an action to trigger the prompt. 💭

I’ve tried to reproduce this but can’t seem to do so. Can you give explicit steps to follow to get it to happen? I’ve tried going into a topic, starting a post, entering another, hitting reply, then abandon and it works.
The more specific the better 🙂 Would love to fix it.

Ok I just ran into this and am able to repro consistently.
1. Create a draft post and wait for it to be saved
2. Navigate somewhere else
3. Hit back
