Can't download box file

(Refined Software LLC) #1

I am getting an error downloading the virtualbox box file: http://www.discourse.org/vms/discourse-0.8.4.box
When doing the vagrant up step this displays:

C:\projects\git\discourse>vagrant up
Bringing machine ‘default’ up with ‘virtualbox’ provider…
[default] Box ‘discourse-0.8.4’ was not found. Fetching box from specified URL f
or
the provider ‘virtualbox’. Note that if the URL does not have
a box for this provider, you should interrupt Vagrant now and add
the box yourself. Otherwise Vagrant will attempt to download the
full box prior to discovering this error.

And I have tried to download this file directly with Chrome and Firefox, both of which only download 10% of the file then say it is done downloading. When trying to add the box to virtualbox this error displays:

C:\projects\git\discourse>vagrant box add discourse-0.8.4 discourse-0.8.4.box

The box failed to unpackage properly. Please verify that the box
file you’re trying to add is not corrupted and try again. The
output from attempting to unpackage (if any):

x ./box-disk1.vmdk: Premature end of gzip compressed data: Input/output error
bsdtar.EXE: Error exit delayed from previous errors.

I tried just now, and I was able to download the 0.8.4.box file just fine (~890mb).

Well this is no fun. It is still not working. Thank you for testing it, is there any alternative links?

Stab in the dark: Is your ISP being a pain and blocking certain files? Maybe try at a friend’s place through another provider or something.

I’m having the same problems, have tried it multiple times through the Terminal as well as with the direct .box and .7z links. It always dies 5-7% in.

The browser download error message:

/Users/paul/Downloads/discourse-0.8.4.box could not be saved, because
the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

Through the Terminal I don’t get an error message, but the download gets stuck at 0B/s indefinitely (left it like that for over 30 minutes despite having a perfect internet connection).

I downloaded it by wget. Now, where’s its place on a Linux machine?
