# Can't enable DiscourseID on a site with force-https disabled

Cannot dereference this pointer - I believe you are talking about the Discourse container?

`force_https` does not affect whether Discourse serves on port 443 (HTTPS); it only tells Discourse that it should assume it’s always being accessed via https.
