Can't modify colors

(Brook Warner) #1

This might be a really n00b question, but I can’t seem to modify the CSS colours in Customise > Colors. Whenever I paste my value in the field highlights red and there is no way to save it. I’m guessing it is showing an error because I am doing something wrong, but I can’t figure out what!

What values are you pasting in?

(Brook Warner) #3

CSS hex values, e.g. 9d85be (also tried with the #)

The save button is at the top of the page. It should be greyed out until there is a change to the value itself.

You also shouldn’t be able to type in a # into the text bar, it should be the pure hex value only. (without the #)

Save button is greyed out until errors are corrected.

Can it take any hex code or only like super web safe colors like ffff00 ?

I’ll send screenshot when I’m at desk

(Jeff Wong) #6

It should be able to take any color code.

I’m assuming you’ve installed discourse through their docker guide?

the screenshots might suss out better what’s going on in your install.

See “quaternary”

We installed via the bitnami AWS marketplace

Isn’t “D2A91” missing something?

(Jeff Atwood) #9

Ummmm D2A91 is too short, that’s 5 characters, a proper hex color is always 6 characters:

Red (0-255) Green (0-255) Blue (0-255), where 0-255 is 00 to FF in hex.

Thus FFFFFF is white, e.g. 255 red = ff, 255 green = ff, 255 blue = ff

Yeah I’m so surprised I didn’t see that. I think something is happening when I paste into the field, it’s dropping the last digit!
