# Can't post into parent category

Recently, we’re able to post into the parent category with the composer or moving posts into them.

Since the earliest github pulls, we can’t. Is the category permission system already broken?

We are finding that new posts in parent categories are automatically showing up in the ‘no defined category’. We are also unable to create new subcategories.

Do you happen to have the “`show_subcategory_list`” site setting enabled?

I’ve tested both. Nothing changed. The list is only showing me sub-subcategory.

My other discourse instance (8e776d0) is working as expected. Just 27 new commits difference.
