Can't view a deleted PM topic where I was added as a participant

(Anton) #1
  1. A and B create a PM topic.
  2. They invite me, C.
  3. A deleted the PM topic.
  4. I can’t find and read it anymore.

Is it intended?

Yep, they deleted the topic, so,it is gone; there are not multiple copies of a topic. But only admins or mods can delete topics.

So what you are leaving out here is that A and B must be mods, or at least one of them.

Yes, both A and B are mods in this case.
Is there any way for an admin to search through deleted PMs?

(Jeff Atwood) #4

Possibly, the number of deleted topics is shown at the top of a user’s profile, click on it.

should it work for topics not owned by me but where I did participate?
sometimes I don’t know who actually owned the topic

(Jeff Atwood) #6

Every topic has an owner, the person who initiated it.

I mean, the issue is this case:

We spoke about something with mods and I posted some important info in a PM topic where I had been invited. Now, to find the deleted topic, I need to know the topic owner and click on the “deleted” link in their profile. But I don’t know who started (owned) the PM topic.

C’est la vie, my friend. Try looking at both people, you have a 50/50 chance of success!
