# Categories show as undefined

After upgrade, categories show as undefined.

Any suggestion how to debug and change it?

Ah yes I can see this here on Meta in the category dropdown. It does not show up when no category is selected, but does when a category is selected.

On second glance, it appears this might be a clear category state. I’ll have a look in the code. The name might be unclear.

PR is baking here: [FIX: Category drop shows undefined by justindirose · Pull Request #11090 · discourse/discourse · GitHub](https://github.com/discourse/discourse/pull/11090)

As soon as we have a review, merge, and it goes through CI, you can upgrade to get the fix.

EDIT: Fixed merge and will be available in tests-passed soon.
