Category lock when create a new category?

(Marco) #1

I have create a new category, but near a category name, appear a icon lock:

Why?
I have controlled a setting category, but it’s all right…

Hover your mouse over it. Lock means the category has security set and may not be visible to all users.

(Marco) #3

How can I unlock these categories?

(Jeff Atwood) #4

Turn off the custom security for the category in the category edit dialog.

I have some discourse where every category was locked.

I imagine there’s some easy CSS (which I don’t know) that could hide the lock. Is there related CSS to target that could put a different icon on unlocked categories?

I don’t find the setting o_o
This, my settings permission:

But the category, it’s still closed…

(Jeff Atwood) #7

That’s a good point, we should have a “reset to default” button on permissions. As you can see, you’ve modified the default permission for that category. Try creating a new category, then see the difference between that and what you have.

(Marco) #8

I tried to create a new category, but there is no difference with closed ones.

Mmmmmm…
I noticed that the padlock appears when you give access permissions to users with trust_leve_1.

is a normal thing?
My users during registration are all automatically at level 1.

Yes, members that have access to a restricted Category don’t lose seeing the icon, they get to see the Category.

The confusion is that the lock icon has two meanings depending on context.

Closed (topics) and Restricted (categories)

I understand the function.
Thank you all!
