# Ceph 作为 S3 的替代方案用于上传/备份

Greetings!
I was just curious, but has there been any testing or discussion with regards to using a local, S3 compatible, Ceph RGW for things like image uploads and backups?

As long as it implements the S3 protocol, like Digital Ocean Spaces and Minions, it should work out of the box.

Apparently it is S3 compatible, but I wasn’t sure about the whole east/west region stuff in there. I will have to poke around then, thanks!

I think that for non aws S3 the region is ignored.
