# Challenges of using Discourse with a Rails/Mysql App

Hi,

We’re considering the move from Question2Answer (PHP Mysql) forum software to Discourse. Our main app is a Rails 4.2 application and our primary database is MySQL. Are there any issues or concerns with having this setup? We’ll need a separate connection to the Discourse database and will be displaying Discourse data on the main app.

No concerns. Discourse runs its own database and app servers, so the two won’t interact directly at all.
