Change default landing page for Groups (Members → Activity/Messages?)

Default group landing tab.

By default, when entering a group, it lands on the Members tab. For most use cases this feels low value since it just shows the list of members and doesn’t surface any current activity (or messages).

Is there an admin setting to change the default landing tab for groups?

Ideally, it would be more useful to land on:

• Activity (to see recent posts, topics, mentions) by group members, or
• Messages (for groups that primarily use group messaging)

Activity seems like the better general default, while Messages could make sense for more messaging-heavy groups. Even a per-group admin (and/or group owner) option to choose the default tab would be nice.

Right now it’s a bit repetitive to click into a group and always land on the members list.

Is this configurable anywhere in admin settings, or would this require a feature request?

Generally when users go to a group that they are a member of, they are more interested to read and respond to the latest messages than to see who is in the group, so MESSAGES would be a be a better default landing area… thanks!

Firstly I think the Groups feature is excellent, and shaping up fast, thanks to the efforts of @tgxworld and others. One suggestion - I think the “Topics” and “Activity” tabs need re-thinking on the group page. These tabs show all topics and all activity by group members. Hi, When accessing groups from the /g page, is there a way to have the group URL it points to be /g/group-slug/messages instead of /g/group-slug/members? We’ve got several groups that are used for group messages. It would be helpful to give people one less click to reach the messages for their group. This is more important to us than the view of group members. I know that I can do this by a direct link, but I want it to be from the /g?type=my page which is helpfully dynamic and user-centred.

Land on Group Messages Component

This Theme Component redirects links to Groups so that they land on the Group Messages rather than on the Group Members. It provides a slick user-customised way of easily getting to their own relevant groups / messages.

For your particular suggestion of landing on the Activity page instead, my guess is that this TC could possibly be extended to accommodate that.

this component can pretty much let you specify any forum page as homepage for specific groups, but the group must be set as the primary for those users.
