# Change sort order for category choice in new post

Hi there!

On our [forum](https://community.glideapps.com/) we let people post uncategorized by default. However, we have a ‘Help & How To’ category which is the most common category we think people need so we show it at the top of our categories list.

However, in the new post search box for categories - the order is different. I’ve been looking in settings and can’t find how to change this. Could someone please help?

It sounds like you have enabled the `fixed category positions` site setting, but not enabled the `fixed category positions on create` site setting. When `fixed category positions on create` is enabled, the category order that you have set for your categories page will be used to order categories in the composer’s category dropdown menu.
