# Change the username creation rule

Hi,
Our users are created with sso, and their default username is then following the rule: firstname.name.
I would like to have Firstname\_Name by default, is there a way to do it?

There isn’t currently a way to change the automatic username logic. However, since you’re using SSO, you could define the username on your identity provider instead. In the SSO payload, you can include the `username` parameter, and then the automatic username logic will be skipped completely.
