Since we started the site with the 6 min and 8 max settings in place, there shouldn’t be any usernames that are shorter than 6 and longer than 8.

Are there system usernames that I am not considering that are causing this failure?

Background: Our usernames are our employee user IDs that are constrained to 6-8 characters. Since we’re not yet tied into our LDAP service, we want to help guide/limit users with respect to the username values they manually enter during sign up. Once we hook into LDAP, we won’t have this hokey edit/constraint in place.
