# Comprehensive topic/post action log

I often hit a wall when trying to piece together how a topic or post got into its current state. There are a few places to check for distinct actions, but none of them link directly from the topic/post, and I feel I am always missing a key piece of data…
Here’s what I envision happening:
- **Dedicated History Link:** Add a “View Full History” link directly on the topic/post page for easy access.
- **Detailed Chronological Log:** Display every edit, moderation action, and update in a clear, time-ordered list.
- **Action Details:** Each log entry should include the timestamp, user who made the change, and a brief description or diff of the change.
- **Filtering Options:** Provide filters to quickly narrow down the type of actions (e.g., edits vs. moderator actions) for faster review.
When one of my users asks me how a thing happened on a topic or post, I would love to figure it out quickly and share. 🙂

I know those points seem like a lot of work, yet I was inspired by prior art in Discourse.
Recently I learned about a feature that is super handy _when you need it_: view change history for settings!
I have not mapped out how it would work for a topic/post, but the general pattern is the same. 🙂
