Configuring the logo/home link in a subfolder instalation

(Flaviu) #1

Is there any way in which I could configure if I want the link on the logo to go to the main site ( the root of the website - www.example.com ) instead of the root of the Discourse installation ( www.example.com/community )

If not, is there any way in which I can implement, or ask for such a functionality?

Thanks,

Changing the logo link could be quite confusing for your users. It would mean there is no easy way to get back to the homepage of the forum.

Instead, many sites add an additional bar across the top of the page, containing “brand” information. For an example, check out https://try.discourse.org. That kind of thing can be done using a theme component:

Hello David, thank you for your answer, I understand your point of view. My question still remain. Is there an option to change that logo link?

You can use a theme component to modify this. Create a new component, and then put this in the </head> section:

<script type="text/discourse-plugin" version="0.4">
  api.changeWidgetSetting('home-logo', 'href', '/latest')
</script>

(Change /latest to the URL you want to use)

Hmmm, this cross-post suggests that doesn’t work
