# Consistently implement composer toolbar item overflow

Continuing the discussion from [Make the composer menu scroll horizontally on desktop as it does on mobile](https://meta.discourse.org/t/make-the-composer-menu-scroll-horizontally-on-desktop-as-it-does-on-mobile/380864):

I am finding the current “scroll to see more toolbar items” implementation on mobile problematic visually because it touches the side and also offers no visual affordance to denote it is scrollable.

I wonder if we should just have one consistent implementation where items move to row number two if too narrow

I understand the complaint about the “lonely” +.

But I wonder if we solve it in a different way, maybe we always overflow 2 items minimum (group last 2). That way it would be “Gif, +” and feel less lonely.

On mobile we already have a button to hide the toolbar if it takes up too much space.

An alternative here is… as stuff gets too narrow, shift them behind the + by a priority.

So in the screenshot above we would evict ![image](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/meta/original/4X/d/b/d/dbdcde1a810d4f903833457161c44ae4b19da3bd.png) to behind + if it gets too narrow.
