Create staged user when email is forwarded

(William) #1

I’ve created a group with a custom email address as explained here: Configuring Reply via Email ✉

When I forward an email to this group address, the users included in the conversations are only the group and the forwarder.

I think a staged user for the original sender should be created and included as well?

Is it already possible? I understand there are some issues with forwarded emails but mostly for the content?
(eg Forwarded emails and email-in topic creation )

I believe this is contingent upon “forward entire email chain” support. Right now we only support a single forwarded email. Perhaps @zogstrip can elaborate.

It should as long as you’re only forwarding 1 email. Can you PM me the raw email so that I can have a look?

Have you been able to have a look?
I’ve tried various ways and I only get the content correctly.
But there is never a staged user created for the original sender

The only workaround I have so far is replying by email to the original sender and CC the group email.
This gets the staged user created, but I lose the original first post.

I have enabled the “enable forwarded emails” setting on your Discourse. Can you try again?
