Create topic title and category inputs too small on Nexus 7

(Dean Taylor) #1

On Nexus 7 in the create topic dialog the title and category inputs are too small.

I would expect title and category to fill the width of the screen in portrait mode, perhaps be equally split in landscape.

As a quick work and dirty around I added this to the mobile CSS:

#reply-control.edit-title .contents input#reply-title {
	width: 91vw;

#reply-control .contents .form-element .category-combobox {
	width: 95vw;

It is a long story (literally: how about 1280px “default” width for this area on mobile?) but I changed the CSS here around a lot to work better on mobile and small tablets.

Should be better now. Give it a shot.

I spotted the crazy defaults in the change log - nice one.

I removed my workaround and updated.

I haven’t got a Nexus 7 to hand right now - will have it back in a week.

Just testing in Chrome’s emulation mode I can see things are looking better.

Here are a couple of screen grabs from Chrome:

Looks like the subject line could do with a little adjustment - but for the moment that’s far better.

Its actually a bit tricky I think its a bug in the autocompleter, its probably set up correctly in CSS but when elements get switched stuff gets a bit weird.

#reply-control.edit-title .contents input#reply-title {
  box-sizing: border-box;
  width:100% !important;
.form-element.clearfix {
  margin-right: 5px;

Send through a PR :slight_smile:

I would love too, but I am afraid to touch the css :wink:

better that one of the experts will do it.
