Is it possible to setup Search across both Discourse forum and a Zendesk knowledge base?
You would need to create a plugin and a custom page that does both searches and then weaves the results together.
How advanced would someone have to be to build that?
You would need a developer, off the cuff estimate is probably a week or two of work.

We’re literally building this to work with our Zendesk knowledgebase right now. We had it set up for our old Community and it worked flawlessly, so I’m sure it’ll be pretty easy to set it up for Discourse as well (as it’s way more configurable, and offers a better API).
We created the custom page that does both searches + weaves the results, but we’re getting stuck on a technical error (see below). If we can figure this out, I’d be happy to share with you! This was huge for driving traffic to our old community, so I believe there’s a lot of value there.
