# Custom Avatars

I may be missing something super obvious, but, where/how can I _upload_ custom avatars that will be assigned to my users on signup.
I see admin/config/files allows us to link to a URL, but how do I upload them to MY server for selection?

Thanks - I thought this might be it, but it does not say it will be autoassigned.
I want to be sure an avatar other than the default letter is automatically assigned.

Good point, ~~I’m not aware of that function, perhaps others will chime in, but you may have to build a plugin to achieve that (in which case consider #Marketplace)~~

I guess a simple workaround would be to use something like [imgur.com](http://imgur.com) for the avatars, and add those URLs, however I ideally would like to have all images served from my infrastructure
