With css as I suggested before?
You can decide to not display things based on the user being a visitor

Something similar was reported a year ago in [Custom Header Links refuses Matrix URL](https://meta.discourse.org/t/custom-header-links-refuses-matrix-url/352433)
Maybe the permalink workaround works for you too.

Is it common practice to treat tablet devices like desktops rather than mobile?
Iโm just looking for the best approach to get automatic content hiding on tablets as well (for using the search bar in Horizon).
Perhaps a new toggle would fit a probably common use case? ๐

It is quite common. But out there is some devs, specially in app-world, who are treating tablets as phones. In the Hell is one purpose made hole for those guys ๐
