Customizing the search template

(Charles Walter) #1

Has anyone had success customizing the search page template? (full-page-search.hbs)

The top queries for our site are for category names, and I’d like to see how I can improve the user experience around this.

I’m also not sure which template would be used for mobile?

Yes it is still an oversight that full page search does not match users or categories, while the drop down overlay search does…

I was hoping I could just stick in a category search result above the topics, or something, if I knew the code that could accomplish that.

It is not an easy change

What I need is UI mockups of how category and user search can be integrated into this page

I know Kris provided at least one, but it was basic.

Sam, I was just looking at doing something like this for now, perhaps with custom templates… If I could get this code to generate above the results section, then our users could at least quickly access the category for the search. I imagine similar code would also work for us on mobile, though I haven’t tried it yet. Obviously not perfect, but I think it would meet the objective.
