# Dark/light mode toggle sometimes flashes dark then light

Continuing the discussion from [Dark/Light Mode Toggle](https://meta.discourse.org/t/dark-light-mode-toggle/215585):

This might not be preventable, and maybe would be rare, but when…

- Windows 10 dark mode is enabled, and
- “Enable automatic dark mode colour scheme” preference is on, and
- Forum light mode is chosen using toggle

… the forum flashes up dark then light every time you first go to the forum, or refresh a page.

I wonder whether the toggle should just override the “Enable automatic dark mode colour scheme” setting to begin with.
