# Data Explorer: Posts by Category (Including Subcategories)

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was a query for posts by category. This information is available in the admin reports but I need to filter each category individually. I found mention of it [here](https://meta.discourse.org/t/posts-per-category-with-deleted-and-without-deleted/275010) but can’t seem to find the [Data Explorer](https://meta.discourse.org/t/32566?silent=true) Query. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

Are you still looking for help on this? If so…

- Do you have the [Data-Explorer plugin](https://meta.discourse.org/t/data-explorer-plugin/32566) installed and enabled?
- Can you navigate to `[YourSite]/admin/plugins/explorer`?

From there you can create your own data-explorer queries if there isn’t a default one that suits. 👍 Clicking on the plus sign next to the search box will bring up the ‘add query’ options.

If you need help with the SQL query itself, could you be a little more specific in what data you’re looking to pull out? Is it a post count by category you’re looking for?
