# Data Explorer Query generator 403 Error

Is anyone experiencing a 403 error when trying to create a new query? Is there a known bug? or maybe user error??

is your Discourse up to date with latest version? 🤔

i just created a new [data explorer](https://meta.discourse.org/t/32566?silent=true) query on 2 different self-hosted sites and ran them without any issue.

if the query isn’t correct it usually outputs a syntax error, so i’m not sure what would cause a 403… if you are an admin and creating it in the data-explorer admin panel it shouldn’t be returning a permissions error.

Are there any errors in the browser console or in /logs?
