Deactivate inactive users

(Patrick) #1

Hello,

Is it possible to deactivate or delete inactive users ?

Kind regards,
Patrick

Deleting accounts is possible but posts will remain (i think)
You can anonymize them

What problem are you trying to solve by deactivation the users?

It should be easy enough to do this from the results console.

We have a private ecommerce community (for 6 & 7 Figure Store Owners) This is not a forum of lurkers, so when people are not active, for say, three months, i want to delete there account automaticly, so we keep the forum clean.

I’m thinking in terms of what I call “seed” accounts (created ahead of time, then remain inactive until used to spam) that it might be best not to Suspend, but to force a password reset after an arbitrary period of absence.

Discourse can stop new accounts from registering once one is entered into a Screened, but AFAIK, it wouldn’t stop multiple accounts from registering if none had spammed yet.

tis almost what i’m looking for
Is it possible to Anonymous a user instead of suspend ?

Not with this plugin, but it shouldn’t be too hard for a developer to fork it and make the necessary changes.

Want to be clear here, deleting an account requires deletion of all the posts from that account. To keep the posts (and not break flow in topics), anonymize the user instead.
