Difference between `ga universal tracking code` and ` ga tracking code`?

2 days ago I added my Tracking ID to ga tracking code and after 1 day I start to see analysis from Google.

However, I still see Google warnings that I am having a “Missing Tracking Code” notification. Should I add my Tracking ID to ga universal tracking code too?

Update to latest version. There was a minor bug with that.

Do you mean this

I’ve just upgraded to the latest version. Should I add my Tracking ID to both

  • ga universal tracking code
  • ga tracking code

and wait for 24 hrs?

I think if you use both it will cause problems. They are mutually exclusive, one is older form, one is newer form (as I understand it). Pick one.

Google Analytics was giving constant warnings about missing tracking code.
Filled it in universal tracking code as well and Google is happy since then.

I hadn’t used GA in a years so didn’t know about Universal superseding Classic, and now that I came back to it, I was also confused by the two options.

Since Universal is the only choice for new accounts, would it help to add something like “(Legacy)” to the description of the classic options?

Users completely new to GA may be confused between the two groups of options if they don’t know the history behind GA.
