# Disable creating new topics

Is there are way to limit the creation of new topics to staff and the embedding script?

You can edit the permissions per category to allow creation of new topics to only a specific group or trust level.

That is the security screen in Edit : Category? I have set it to:
Staff can Create / Reply / See
Everyone can Reply / See
Does that seem correct?
I initially missed this setting as it is not available on the uncategorized ‘category’, only in new categories. I switched off the ability to create topics that are not categorized.
