# Disable Searchbox for unregistered users

hey all :),
first, discourse is great!!! โ ๐
we use discourse since 6 month for a closed discussion. But now we find a problem for us. Because, unregistered users can use the search box / search api to search for users. Has anybody a idea, to deactivate the search box / search api for unregistered people?

Why donโt you move your site to login-required, if it is closed discussion?
As you can see here [http://parley.rubyrogues.com/](http://parley.rubyrogues.com/) a login required site does not allow unregistered users to search.

hi jeff,
yes this could be a solution :). now, we have a open area for unregistered users. but if necessary, we disable that.
