Disabling all e-mails makes it impossible to create new admins

On our forum in Iceland, I’ve disabled all outbound e-mails due to issues with the welcome and digest e-mails (all users are automatically logged in when they sign up on our site).

The problem is that when I want to promote someone to an admin, I am unable to do that unless I enable all e-mails again.

Is there a way to either disable the e-mail verification for new admins or bypass the e-mail disable function when promoting users?

Why don’t you just disable digest emails? Disabling all outbound emails seem like the nuclear option.

If you’re doing SSO there is a way to slip the email verification message, if that’s what you’re talking about.

You can make someone an admin like this

cd /var/discourse
./launcher enter app
rake admin:create

Yeah, however I am not hosting Discourse … it’s being hosted by Discourse.org/com.

Discourse does not work without email. You’ll really need to figure out a way to turn it back on.

Another solution is to quickly enable mail, request the admin, and re-enable email. Another is to email a request support or perhaps message @community here.
