Discourse AI Summary Cache

AI-generated summary

anon82911141 inquires whether Discourse AI summaries are cached to prevent unnecessary API requests when topic content remains unchanged. sam confirms that summaries are indeed cached. merefield elaborates that this behavior is managed by the Discourse AI plugin, where summaries are only regenerated after a specified number of new posts, controlled by the ai_topic_summary_enabled_post_interval_rerun setting. This ensures that the system does not redundantly request summaries for topics that have not undergone significant changes.

Hi there,

Haven’t seen a solid nor concrete response to do with this question - are the Discourse AI summaries cached somewhere so that the forum doesn’t unnecessarily keep requesting summaries when there have been no changes to the post, topic or reply?

Thanks.

Yes, summaries are cached

In my plugin:

Summaries are only updated every x Posts governed by a setting ai_topic_summary_enabled_post_interval_rerun
