This TC is getting a couple of deprecation in the console. I suspect that the code really needs a refresh:

I think that it is a brilliant TC, and fills a gap that the official TCs are missing. It would be great to see it get some more love, but I know (or at least suspect) that @Rhidian has moved on somewhat.

Update this awesome component. I just built a new site that uses it to great effect and I would hate to have to figure out an alternative. This component does EXACTLY what I need.

I have converted the widget system to a Glimmer component, and added the following feature:

Would it be possible to have the same option for “parent category bg image”

If you have one parent category and 100 subcategories, setting the bg image manually for each one to reflect the same as the parent is obviously a task that is cubermsoe and burdensome, and when the logo feature is no required.

in the setting show_parent_category_background_image.

Almost certainly! Glad that you could remove it.
Would you mind reinstalling it (perhaps in a separate dev Theme) and try and capture the console errors? Also, it would be helpful to know how you config’d it.

Bug with HTML tags

I’ve seen a wee bug too - HTML tags aren’t rendering nicely in the category headers:

Also, the ‘normal’ Description text size doesn’t seem to match vanilla (in my example above the TC is set to larger)

There is definitely an issue between this component and another one that I use: GitHub - discourse/discourse-minimal-category-boxes because when I remove that one, then the home page displays. If I don’t remove that, I just get a blank page.

But, I don’t think that’s the whole story, because even with the minimal category boxes removed, when I click through to a category it doesn’t work, I just see a blank page:
