Discourse Checklist

AI-generated summary

The Discourse Checklist plugin, now bundled with Discourse core, enables users to add interactive checkboxes to posts using simple Markdown syntax: [] or [ ] for unchecked, [x] for unchecked with no fill, and [X] for permanently checked boxes. It is enabled by default and can be toggled via admin/plugins. Users can toggle checkboxes without refreshing the page. The plugin is officially maintained, with support, bug, UX, and feature requests handled via Meta categories tagged with checklist. Self-hosted users should remove it from app.yml, while hosted users are unaffected. Special thanks go to @lightyear for the initial version and @cpradio for long-term maintenance. A minor documentation update is needed on discourse.org to reflect that [*] is no longer valid syntax ondrej. Discourse confirms the plugin’s seamless integration into core and its continued availability across all hosting tiers.

:information_source: Discourse Checklist has now been bundled with Discourse core, so this plugin will no longer need to be installed separately.

If you self-host you should see some information on your dashboard about removing it from your app.yml.

:discourse2: Hosted by us? This change will not affect you in any way. :+1: You can continue to enjoy this plugin and not worry about a thing.

On discourse.org the image demonstrating the checklist feature needs an update as [\*] no longer works and is now
