I’ve switched this over to the bug category as I’m now fairly sure this is in fact a bug in Discourse.

These two posts replying to the instructions for setting up Discourse Connect describe the same problem I’m having:

We’ve been using DiscourseConnect with WordPress as the provider successfully for several years and have not changed the Discourse or WP configurations. Today I notice what I think is a new behavior. When I log out, it used to take me to the WordPress login screen. Now it takes me to the Discourse login screen. We too are using DiscourseConnect and experiencing the same issue. We have it up and running since a few years now and everything worked smoothly. updated today to 3.5.0.beta8-dev [e91024a221] Basically the callback from sso system to discourse url add https://discourse.domain.ext/login and we have the same screen as @markschmucker We also noticed that clicking on the header logo we land on https://discourse.domain.ext/ and login is successful (just a click on a button is needed) Seems like …

The first of those two posts has the problem staring after updating to 3.5.0.beta5-dev in late May. I had already identified the problem as starting for us no earlier than May, which I suspect is not coincidental.
