Discourse.example.com's server DNS address could not be found

#1

Hi the awesome Discourse community!

I have a discourse installed with my domain. Recently, whenever I try to log into my forum with my credential, I have been greeted with the following message:

discourse.example.com’s server DNS address could not be found”

However, when I click return, I was able to return to my site as a logged in user.

I was wondering where I can reconfigure my setting so that this message doesn’t appear? Thank you very much!

Did you enter your hostname in app.yml?

Yes I did. My DISCOURSE_HOSTNAME is configured as my forum domain. Anything else that might be causing the problem? Much appreciate your help!

Oh. I wasn’t paying attention. That was a problem on your computer, not discourse.

It was either a spurious internet problem or that your DNS records hadn’t propagated.

Turns out that I did not configure Nginx correctly. I did:

$ sudo nano /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/discourse

then under proxy_redirect, I changed discourse.example.com to my domain.

proxy_redirect  http://discourse.example.com:25654/ https://discourse.example.com;

Thanks @pfaffman for the help along the way!
