This is quite useless answer because I don’t know. But if Who’s Online, which is just visual marker, will affect away-time of notifications, that would be a bug.
But quite often in that situation there won’t will be email notifications. Or so I reckon, because I don’t know. On my forum practically no one wants email notifications from topics. But was a user away after one hour 10 minutes?
