# Why doesn't the deployed Discourse support language modification?

Looking at the logs, it says “local shadowed so ignored,” so directly modifying the relevant configuration in app.yml will fail.

It seems to be about the same error. Is DISCOURSE\_DEFAULT\_LOCALE commented out in your app.yml?
