Dns autodiscover setup

(Don Glover) #1

During dns setup my cname autodiscover record was set to hosted-vh1.discourse.org for other purposes I need to set this to another address. Is there any reason I need to leave autodiscover configured to point to hosted-vh1.discourse.org ?

What do you mean by auto discover? Are you a trial customer?

Is this Microsoft Exchange specific @donglover? I found some information

E-mail clients that make use of Autodiscover includes Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013, Outlook 2011, Mac Mail, Entourage 2008 WSE and many smartphones.

Looks like this:

Contact your DNS hosting provider and ask them to create the following CNAME record. If you have access to the control panel for your DNS, you can make this change yourself.

Hostname: autodiscover
Record Type: CNAME
TTL: 300 (if required)
Address: autodiscover.emailsrvr.com

You control the DNS for your domain name, so this change would have to be on your end.

I’m not sure why this would be… during our setup, only the fqdn which was for our forum needed to be changed. Unless autodiscover happens to be the name of your forum, yes, you could fix the autodiscover CNAME in your dns zone.

Just make sure that the CNAME for your forums’s FQDN remains configured per the Discourse Team’s direction.
