# Zijn de richtlijnen van Discourse Meta van toepassing op elk discourse forum?

Ok, I’ve been noticing people signing their posts in [another discourse forum](https://devforum.roblox.com/)
though it says this in the [Discourse Meta Guidelines](https://meta.discourse.org/guidelines)

Even though the discourse forum I linked has [their own rules](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/official-rules-of-the-roblox-developer-forum/46429), I am confused as [Someone told someone else to not do that](https://devforum.roblox.com/t/roblox-needs-to-update-notifications/2158243/48?u=vscplays)
so does the Discourse Meta Guidelines apply to every discourse forums?

Not really, as many Discourse-based forums are independent entities and can decide their own rules.
However it’s a good guideline because of the way the software works and the nature of the UI, so other sites would do well to consider this approach.

yes like @merefield says it’s up to the individual forums to set their own guidelines and rules.
personally i don’t like signatures for the very reason stated. but there is definitely no general rule against signatures in posts, and there is also a discourse signature plugin.
