Docker error on Bootstrap

(Sam Saffron) #21

FYI I added tests to launcher to avoid this issue in future

https://github.com/discourse/discourse_docker/commit/a3e18d952f053bc88b852422cad79eebdcb2d483

GOD MY AVATAR IS BIG ^^^ VERY SCARY

(D Iff) #23

When I run the below command:
root@MyUbuntu:/var/docker# ./launcher bootstrap app

it starts _pulling fs layer _:

And cgroup-lite is installed:

diff@MyUbuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install cgroup-lite

cgroup-lite is already the newest version.
cgroup-lite set to manually installed.

When you get a downloading error, walk over to your kitchen, and look at the microwave, and set a timer for one hour. When it goes off, try to bootstrap again.

The solution is literally to try again later.

(D Iff) #25

lol
Many times I have repeated it at long distances between efforts during a full day.

Any ideas regarding which file it can’t find?

EDIT: I tried running the bootstrap as root, but that did not help.

Edit 2: It appears to be this command that it’s failing on in the launcher

docker run -i --rm -a stdin -a stdout -a stderr samsaffron/discourse:0.1.2 echo working

Edit 3: I don’t know what I did, but I fixed it. It may have had something to do with installing the lxc package (which apparently is not a dependency of lxc-docker) and rebooting.

(D Iff) #27

@Sapid
Did you solve it?

(Will) #28

Yes. As I recall, something went wrong during the docker installation. I had to fiddle with something, though unfortunately I don’t recall what.

This thread can be closed.

(Kane York) #29

Except for the part where you didn’t start it :wink:

And you should’ve had your own thread from the beginning.

(Will) #30

Well, the OP’s problem was solved, but now that you mention it, this is the thread that the error pointed me at, so I suppose it should remain open in case someone else gets directed here.

(D Iff) #31

Does this help you to help me: 301 Moved Permanently

And $ cat /etc/lsb-release:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=13.10

$ docker -v

$ docker rmi 9dfbb44c55ff

Hi! I think this topic is old, but the URL is mentioned in the error, so I guess is correct to ask here.

I’m getting this error after trying to bootstrap the app.

I’m using https://www.scaleway.com/ hosting services (armv7 servers). Any idea what could be wrong?

Tks

(Kane York) #33

Well, I don’t think anyone’s tried to use Discourse on an ARM server yet, so we’re shipping binaries that are x86_64 only somewhere.

It’s actually discourse/discourse:1.0.14 now… there is now SamSaffron/discourse anymore in discourse_docker/launcher at master · discourse/discourse_docker · GitHub

Not sure where you are getting that tag from…

Can you access Docker site easily?

Does curl -IL https://hub.docker.com/r/discourse/discourse/ returns 200?

(‫دبیرستان دانشگاه صنعتی شریف (‪Sanati Sharif‬‏)‬‎) #38

NO, return 403 :

curl -IL https://hub.docker.com/r/discourse/discourse/
HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden
Cache-Control: no-cache
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html

(Rafael dos Santos Silva) #39

Where the server is located? What’s the ip?

Due to trade restrictions you aren’t allowed to use docker, but of you can rent a server elsewhere that would work.

Plus, if you really need to install on this server you will need to go the manual route (docker less).

It isn’t that hard if you know some Linux fu and Ruby fu.

(‫دبیرستان دانشگاه صنعتی شریف (‪Sanati Sharif‬‏)‬‎) #40

can you give some code snipe ?

If you have time, I am grateful to see the sample code here.

I know Linux, but I am not familiar with Ruby :frowning:

Thank you very much

Any ideas? I’m using Docker v 1.10 and Ubuntu 14.04. All was going so smoothly…
