# Docker new licensing

Discourse uses Docker Engine in production, which is not affected by the aforementioned licensing update. The only applicable scenario I can see would be if one were to run Discourse in development mode using the [Docker guide](https://meta.discourse.org/t/beginners-guide-to-install-discourse-for-development-using-docker/102009) (and only if they were using Docker Desktop, e.g MacOS or Windows with the Docker Desktop WSL integration enabled).
