Does Adblock remove Discourse social log in buttons?

(Bart van Manen) #1

The ‘Sign in with Google’ button does appear when I try to log in from another pc. However the button does not appear on my pc using another browser.

Are you using an ad blocker? Adblock Plus, for instance, removes the login buttons.

We confirmed this is not true, adblock does NOT remove any login elements in a default install:

Okay, just created an account on try.discourse on Firefox browser with Adblock Plus enabled, and it worked like a charm. Tested on Ubuntu, Mac & Windows 8 (Surface!)

Nuh uh.

That is Chrome, Adblock Plus 1.8.3 and Ghostery 5.3.0. Disabling Ghostery, however, does not affect the login buttons.

No problem with Adblock in Chrome using the default settings.
When I activate Fanboy’s Social Blocking List the buttons disappear.

(Jens Maier) #6

Ooooh, right, I forgot I had messed around with configured the blocking lists…

Yeah, that list may be too restrictive.

(Jeff Atwood) #7

Yeah non defaults is a whole different ball game.
