# Does category ordering by activity include subcategories activity?

When the setting `fixed category positions` is unchecked, categories are automatically sorted by activity. But does the activity of a category include the activity of its subcategories? If not, should not it be the case or is there a way to change this?

I think that’s the way it is. I have the opposite problem now: I set the main categories to fixed (I want it that way), but I want the subcategories to remain ranked by activity. However, I found that previously the “by activity” ordering wasn’t really working anyway, might have something to do with categories-subcategories relationships…
